Institute Mixte Remax
Our growing school is located in the beach town of Montrouis on the northwest coast of Haiti. The building was originally being built by Maxime and his wife to be their new home. However, when they saw the severe need of education for children of the area, they decided to use the structure as a free school.
When we first got involved helping IMR in 2012, only 35 students were attending in grades 1-3. The 4 teachers were not being paid, and students were only eating lunch twice a week.
We are so excited and thankful that we have been able to grow each year, adding classrooms, increasing enrollment, and employing more staff. We currently have over 350 students enrolled in grades Pre-k through 9th. Our students are taught the standard Haitian curriculum, learning in French and Creole.
Along with our Canadian partner organization (Haiti in My Heart) we provide uniforms,
books, a daily meal, and all other needed school supplies.
We operate purely by volunteers and do not have non-profit paid employees or staff members.
Therefore 100% of your donations go directly to the school, our students, and teachers.
